Who is Christine?

Christine Moad (they/them) is a genderqueer musician, educator, activist, bassist, singer, songwriter, tea addict, vegan, cat mom, dark chocolate loving, compassionate human. Listen to and watch them here.

Who is Michael?

Michael Salino-Hugg (he/him) is an electrical engineer, vegan, cat dad, maker of art, drone pilot, musician, and human. Watch him witness a whale birth here.

What is a domestic partnership?

Domestic partnership means the entity formed by two or more persons who meet the following criteria and jointly file a registration statement proclaiming that: 

1. They are in a relationship of mutual support, caring and commitment and intend to remain in such a relationship; and 

2. They are not related by blood closer than would bar marriage in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts; and 

3. They are competent to contract; and 

4. They consider themselves to be a family. 

We officially became domestic partners on October 12, 2023!

Why not get married?

Christine has never wanted to get married. When they met Michael, Christine felt so strongly about him that they started to ponder what a deep, committed relationship would look like. When learning about domestic partnership, it felt right. Christine asked Michael if he would be their domestic partner. For us it is a way to affirm and celebrate the bond we share. The health insurance is a bonus 😂.

How do I RSVP?

RSVP by filling out this form. Please RSVP even if you cannot make it in person. We plan to have a Zoom celebration for those who cannot make it but would like to participate. 

When do I need to RSVP by?

RSVP by April 15, 2024. Your RSVP will help us determine food options.

Should I bring a gift?

Yes! We invite you to bring a photograph, create a piece of art, write a poem, tell a story, make a zine, compose a song, or however you can best share your connection with Michael, Christine, and their partnership. Please bring it to our celebrations where you will share it with the group. We are the most excited about this part of the event! If you cannot make it in person, will we meet on Zoom to share with each other. Yes, Michael and Christine will be sharing too.

Do you have a registry?

We do not have a registry. The best gift you can give us is your company and a personalized gift. Remember, this can be a photograph, a poem, a song, a story, a piece of art, whatever you want! As long as it tells a story of your connection to Michael, Christine, or both Christine and Michael as partners.

You can send cash gifts via check, Venmo, or PayPal. All funds will go towards a trip to The Gray Barn at Woodstock Farm Sanctuary in Upstate New York.

Why have two celebrations?

We want you to have options! Perhaps you want the city experience and have always wanted to travel to Boston. Maybe city life isn’t your vibe and you’d feel more comfortable on an 80 acre farm in rural Iowa under the stars. We also understand that you have your own life and maybe already have plans for one date that we chose. Our domestic partnership celebrations are a choose your own adventure. 

Why have the Boston celebration on a Thursday?

Christine is a working musician with musician friends who work on the weekends. They wanted to provide a week day option for musicians to come celebrate where they wouldn’t have to turn down gigs.

Since the celebration is on Thursday, 5/23, this gives you the option of staying in Boston for Memorial Day weekend to see more of the city and to truly make it your own adventure. 

Is there a dress code?

We want you to be comfortable at our domestic partnership celebrations! If you feel like dressing up, go for it! Jeans and a t-shirt? No problem! Please wear whatever makes you feel good and confident.

Are kids welcome?

Yes

Where will celebration updates be posted?

Once you RSVP, you will receive an email with more details closer to the celebration(s) date. You will only be sent info about the date(s) you choose. You will also receive a text invite via Partiful. RSVP on Partiful to receive text message updates about the celebrations. We will be using Partiful to give real time updates.
